Ants
Why do I have ants in my home?
As temperatures begin to warm up in northeast Indiana, ants wake up and start foraging for food and moisture to support their colony. They commonly enter homes through gaps around foundations, windows, and doors — and are especially drawn to moisture prone areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. Two of the most common species we deal with in our area are sugar ants, which are primarily a nuisance pest, and carpenter ants, which can cause structural damage if left untreated.
How do we treat ants?
We take an Integrated Pest Management approach to ant control — meaning we treat the problem where it actually is rather than blanket spraying and hoping for the best. Our process starts with a targeted interior treatment using baits and direct applications in the areas where ants are actively being seen. Baits are particularly effective because foraging ants carry the product back to the colony, eliminating the problem at the source. Most interior infestations are resolved in a single treatment.
Once the interior is under control, we apply a perimeter spray around the exterior of the home to create a barrier that deters ants from wanting to come back inside.
What about carpenter ants?
Carpenter ants require a different approach than sugar ants. If carpenter ants are found inside your home, there is a good chance they have taken up residence in an exterior wall — particularly in areas where moisture has caused wood to soften. We will assess the situation and develop a targeted plan to address them at the source rather than just treating what you can see on the surface.
Are there any moisture or landscaping issues I should know about?
One of the most common conditions that attracts ants is mulch placed directly against the siding of a home. Mulch retains moisture and creates an ideal environment for ants to nest and travel into your home. If we spot this during your service, we will pull the mulch back from the siding for you — it is a small thing that can make a big difference in keeping ants out long term.

Spiders
Why do I have spiders in my home?

In northeast Indiana, spiders are most active in mid-spring and especially in the fall as temperatures begin to drop and they seek warmth indoors. They typically enter through garages and doors, traveling along the edges of garage walls before making their way further into the home. Downspouts are another common hotspot, providing shelter and easy access to the exterior of the house.
The most common spider we encounter in northern Indiana is the wolf spider. While they look intimidating, wolf spiders are actually beneficial to the environment — they prey on other insects and help keep pest populations naturally in check. That said, most people would still prefer them outside where they belong, and we completely understand that.
Brown recluse spiders can occasionally make their way into northern Indiana, though it is not typical for our area. Black widows are outside of our range entirely, so that is one less thing to worry about.
How do we treat spiders?
Our spider treatment combines an exterior barrier application around the home with a targeted treatment inside the garage — where spiders are most likely to enter and take up residence. We pay particular attention to garage corners and downspouts, which are prime hiding spots. We also place monitoring traps to keep an eye on activity levels and catch any new spider movement before it becomes a bigger problem.
How should I prepare before treatment?
The main thing we ask is that you clear the edges of your garage before our visit. Since spiders travel along the garage walls on their way into the home, having clear access to those areas allows us to treat them thoroughly and get the best possible results.

Cockroaches
