About Birch Ridge Management
It started at a birthday party.
When my son turned four, I wanted to make sure his backyard party was perfect — and that meant keeping the mosquitoes away. I treated the yard myself, and as I watched those mosquitoes drop and scatter, something clicked. It was satisfying in a way I hadn't expected. That moment planted a seed that would eventually grow into Birch Ridge Management.
My name is Ben, and I've spent the last five years in the pest control industry building the skills, knowledge, and hands-on experience to handle just about anything that might be bugging you. But my story starts a little earlier than that.
Shaped by Service
From 2004 to 2010, I proudly served in the Indiana National Guard. It was one of the best experiences of my life. The Guard taught me discipline, attention to detail, and above all — to look out for the person next to you. I was the guy they called when there was a special project that needed doing, because I've always been someone who steps up when people need solutions. That drive to serve and problem-solve didn't leave when my service ended. It just found a new home.
Built on Two Decades of Hard Work
For nearly 20 years, I've called Auburn home — and for nearly 20 years, I've been working as a maintenance technician at Walmart. That might not sound like it connects to pest control at first, but those years gave me something invaluable: the ability to diagnose and solve complex problems under pressure. Electrical, plumbing, mechanical — I've worked through it all. I've even tackled the occasional drywall repair, though I won't pretend that's my favorite way to spend an afternoon. What those years built in me was a mindset: when something is broken or isn't working right, you figure it out and you fix it. That's exactly how I approach pest control.
After the Guard, I also honed my customer service skills working with Secrist Lawn Care, where I learned what it means to show up consistently, treat people's properties with respect, and take pride in the quality of your work. Those years shaped how I approach every single service call today.
Why I Started Birch Ridge
After years of working within large corporations, I knew there had to be a better way — a way to actually connect with customers, provide real solutions, and put my skills to work for my own community. So I took the leap and started Birch Ridge Management. Auburn is my home now, and I wanted to build something here that I could be proud of.
One of my biggest goals is to give back to this community that has given so much to me. When you hire Birch Ridge, your money stays local. It supports a local family, not a distant corporate office. That matters to me, and I hope it matters to you too.
A Family Business
Birch Ridge Management is a team effort. My wife is the other half of this operation — she keeps me organized, on schedule, and headed in the right direction. She's also the warm, friendly voice you'll hear when you call to book a service. Fair warning: occasionally she's busy wrangling our two young boys, but she'll always get back to you.
More Than Just Pest Control
Outside of work, I'm a technology enthusiast who enjoys building computers from the ground up — something that speaks to the same love of problem solving and attention to detail that I bring to every service call. Whether it's a pest issue, a plumbing question, or a conversation about the latest processors, I'm always happy to talk. That curiosity and passion for figuring things out is baked into everything I do at Birch Ridge.
Personalized Service at a Fair Price
What sets us apart from the big pest control companies out of Fort Wayne is simple — we actually get to know you. We're not sending out a rotating roster of technicians who don't know your property. When you call Birch Ridge, you get us. We take the time to understand your situation, identify the right solution, and make sure you feel confident in the service you're receiving.
I'm not the cheapest option out there, and I won't pretend to be. But I will put in the work to make sure you're getting real value — professional-grade treatments, honest communication, and a fair price that the big companies simply can't match when it comes to personal attention.
Licensed & Local
Birch Ridge Management is fully licensed in both Indiana and Ohio, proudly serving homeowners and businesses within 45 minutes of Auburn — including Angola, Hamilton, Columbia City, Butler, Waterloo, and the surrounding communities across Allen, Steuben, DeKalb, LaGrange, and Noble counties. We also serve the Hicksville, Defiance, and Edgerton areas in northwest Ohio.
Wherever you are in our service area, you can trust that we'll show up, do the job right, and stand behind our work.
